Every parent wants their children to be good readers; however, some children just hate to read. When we have children that hate to read, then it is our job as parents to work toward making reading fun for our children that hat to read. Here are 3 ways this can be done.
Buy the children Books Based on What the Children Like
One way to make reading fun for the children is to purchase books for them that are centered around things that they like. If the children have a favorite cartoon character or if they like a favorite animal, then the books that we purchase for them should be centered around those things. When children have books that are centered around the things that they like, then they will be eager to read those books.
Making Reading Fun by Making It a Time to Bond
If we make reading time a time that we bond with our children, this will work toward making reading fun. Our children will be able to share with us, and we will be able to share with them. We can share love with one another, as well as a happiness to learn from one another, as our children can teach us some amazing things that we ourselves never knew. Children love to bond with their parents, and if they can associate reading with that comforting experience of bonding, they will love to read all the more.
Making Reading Fun by Centering the Books around Fun Activities
Children love fun activities. They especially love to engage in making creative crafts. If we take a book, have them learn to read it with us, and then plan fun craft activities around the book that the children will be eager to participate in, they will be anxious to read.
