Benefits of a Secondary Education

Most of our education backgrounds extend at least into high school. However, studies have shown that this is not enough to earn a suitable income over your lifetime. While decades ago it as customary to leave school early in order to participate on the family farm or another line of work, in more contemporary times, a high school education is expected. There are however reasons to tak your education even further than that.

1.) Increased Earning Power- Getting your college degree can lead to earning a million more dollars in your lifetime than a high school diploma alone. In fact, there are fewer and fewer careers available not where an advanced degree is not considered prerequisite. While certain careers are sure to prove more lucrative than others, the prescence of a degree on your resume is the most important thing.

2.) Satisfying Career- It is said that if you do what you love, you never have to work a day in your life. However, to land a great job that doesn’t feel like work most likely also involves getting a degree of some sort. High paying, satisfying jobs are rarely bestowed on applicants who have not completed college courses.

3.) The Experience- While the trials and tribulations of high school can leave some students unsatisfied with the experience, going to college is often a different experience. Classes are bigger, there are many more students roaming the halls, and you can go about your business in relative anonymity. It also affords you the opportunity to befriend only those you wish to include in your college experience, bypassing those who you do not feel serve a specific purpose to your experience.

There are of course many benefit to attending college. However, none may be more important than potential earnings. The ability to earn a solid income can be the difference between having what you want, and just wishing you had those things.
